Lightweight. Nutrient-dense. Designed to grow healthier, tastier produce and vibrant blooms.

Our Raised Garden Bed Potting Mix has been expertly crafted to support healthy plant development from the ground up — whether you’re a first-time grower or a seasoned gardener.

Developed for raised garden beds, planter boxes, and large containers, this premium mix balances moisture retention, aeration, drainage, and long-lasting nutrition.

Hand-blended in small batches, this mix is lightweight enough to protect bed structure but rich enough to grow nutrient-dense vegetables, lush herbs, and stunning flowers.

What's Inside:

This is not just a potting mix — it’s a living foundation. Each ingredient has been selected with intention:

  • Coco coir peat, bark & composted bark – Organic bulk and moisture balance

  • Perlite, pumice, sand & grit – Boost drainage, prevent compaction, and encourage healthy roots

  • Zeolite – Capture and release nutrients when plants need them

  • Charcoal – Improves microbial habitat and balances pH

  • Organic Bio Nutrients – All are BioGro-certified, providing a complete fertiliser containing:

    • Nitrogen (N): 2.5%

    • Phosphorus (P): 3.5%

    • Potassium (K): 3.36%

    • Sulphur (S): 4.41%

    • Magnesium (Mg): 2.76%

    • Calcium (Ca): 10%

    • Humates, biostimulants, and trace elements

This carefully balanced nutrient profile supports strong early growth while building long-term soil health.

How to Use – Starting a Raised Garden Bed:

If you're creating a new bed from scratch, here's a suggested layering guide to build the perfect foundation:

  • Suppress weeds with a layer of cardboard or newspaper at the base.

  • Add a layer of twigs, branches, or coarse organic matter for drainage.

  • Follow with green organic matter like leaves, aged grass clippings, or compost.

  • Top with 20–30cm of Bio Leaf’s Raised Garden Bed Mix.
This is your nutrient-rich, biologically active top layer.

👉 Optional: Add worm castings, compost, or inoculants to enhance microbial diversity. Be aware that adding raw organic matter can temporarily shift the pH or nutrient availability — give it a few days to settle before planting if needed.

🌿 Crop-Specific Tips:

  • Leafy greens, herbs, salad mixes: Use as-is. Top up with worm castings mid-season.

  • Tomatoes, capsicums, pumpkins, corn: Mix is sufficient, but monthly top-ups with compost, fish emulsion, or seaweed feed are beneficial, due to these being heavy feeders.

  • Root crops (carrots, beetroot): Let mix settle for a week before planting to avoid excess nitrogen.

  • Flowers: Add occasional liquid bloom or potash fertilisers for prolonged blooms.

  • Potatoes and kumara: Add 10–20% compost to increase bulk and water-holding capacity.

Why It Works:

✅ 100% organic inputs

❓ Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Is this ready to use straight away?
Yes – simply fill your raised bed or container and plant directly. It’s suitable for seedlings, transplants, and direct sowing.

Q: Do I need to add anything else?
The mix is complete, but for high-producing crops, top-dressing with compost or worm castings every 4–6 weeks is ideal.

Q: Can I use this in pots and containers too?
Absolutely! It’s lighter than standard garden soils and ideal for larger containers.

Q: Will it hold moisture or dry out quickly?
This mix is designed to retain moisture while allowing excess water to drain freely — perfect for raised beds.

Q: Will it feed my plants all season?
Yes for most crops. Heavy feeders like tomatoes may benefit from monthly organic feeding as the season progresses.
