Meeting the Plant Community Across Aotearoa

One of the most rewarding parts of running Bio Leaf is getting out from behind the mixing tables and meeting the people who grow, collect and care for plants every day.

Since 2024, we’ve had the privilege of attending a number of incredible plant markets and garden events across New Zealand. These events give us the chance to talk soil, potting mixes and plant care in person, answer questions from fellow plant enthusiasts and see first hand what everyone is growing.

Auckland Plant Market & Hamilton Plant Extravaganza

Two events that have become regular highlights in our calendar are the Auckland Plant Market and the Hamilton Plant Extravaganza. We attend both twice a year, and every time we’re blown away by the passion and knowledge within the plant community.

These markets are always buzzing with collectors, hobbyists and growers searching for their next special plant. It’s also where we get to help people understand how the right substrate can make a real difference to root health, drainage and overall plant vitality.

Many of the conversations we have at these markets help shape the way we continue to refine our mixes.

Tauranga Plant Fest

In late 2024 we were lucky enough to attend Tauranga Plant Fest, another fantastic event bringing together growers, vendors and plant lovers from across the region.

It was a great opportunity to introduce Bio Leaf to new growers and talk about the importance of structure, aeration and nutrient balance in potting mixes.

The Plant Fest team took a break for 2025 and we are looking forward to potentially coming back for 2026.

Christchurch Visits and the Botanica Market

In 2025 we travelled to Christchurch twice, meeting South Island plant enthusiasts and building relationships with local growers and businesses.

More recently we’ve handed the reins over to one of our newest stockists, Plantita NZ, who now stocks and sells Bio Leaf products at the Christchurch Botanica Market.

We’re incredibly grateful for their support in representing Bio Leaf in the South Island.

And while they’re holding the fort for us down there, it doesn’t mean we won’t make another in-person appearance again in the future — so keep an eye out.

Wellington Botanist Expo

At the beginning of February 2026, we were also part of the Wellington Botanist Expo, another fantastic event celebrating plant culture and connecting growers from across the lower North Island.

Events like this are a wonderful reminder of how vibrant and supportive the plant community is throughout New Zealand.

Our Local Hodderville Markets

Closer to home, you’ll find us at the Hodderville Markets on Old Taupō Road, connecting with our local community.

These smaller markets have a special charm. They allow us to slow down a little, chat with fellow gardeners and share advice about soils, substrates and plant care with people who may be just starting their plant journey.

Why We Love Plant Markets

Plant markets are about far more than selling products.

They’re where ideas are shared, knowledge is passed on and friendships are formed through a shared love of plants.

Many of our product improvements and new ideas come directly from conversations at these events. Hearing your experiences helps us continue refining our mixes and developing new products that genuinely support plant health.
