NEW PRODUCT: Bio Leaf Variegated Leaf Potting Soil

EM1 Garden - Microbial Inoculant

EM1 Garden Microbial Inoculant contains live microbes that exist in nature, such as lactic acid bacteria, yeast, and phototrophic bacteria and nutrients such as organic acids, amino acids, and minerals.

Beneficial microbes create healthy environments for plants, making it hard for them to get sick, enhancing their photosynthetic ability, and helping vegetables taste more delicious.

It is also the perfect product to create a vibrant and diverse garden environment. With a huge array of applications, EM1 Garden can help solve many problems in the garden, including pest and disease control and improve soil fertility and plant health.

EM1, Bio Leaf Plant Nutrients, Auckland, New Zealand

Healthy soils grow healthy plants and require diverse microbial activity to break down organic matter and fertiliser inputs to promote a healthy environment for plants. EM is a certified organic microbial inoculant that provides a broad spectrum of microorganisms, enzymes, vitamins, and organic acids essential for healthy soils and plants. They will support the growth of other important components, including mycorrhizae, earthworms, and insects already in your soil.

The regular application of EM1 results in stronger and healthier plants that enjoy greater resistance to disease and pests and produce higher-quality flowers, fruits and vegetables.

Many plants growing in their natural habitat benefit from the interactions of these naturally occurring microbial populations interactions and secretions.

There are several benefits to have from the regular application of EM1 Garden:

  • Suppress harmful pathogens and encourage the proliferation of beneficial microbes.
  • Improving root structures and helping create better soil structures.
  • Improve organic matter breakdown.
  • It populates the growing media with live microorganisms, typically absent from cultivated pot plants and may help improve the “health” of the root zone.
  • Some of the microbes may also populate the plant, i.e. roots. This will enhance the movement of nutrients from the potting media to the plant, i.e. transferring them directly into the plants.
  • They can convert unavailable nutrients into usable compounds.
  • They can also boost the plant's natural defence capabilities by preying directly on harmful pathogens and secreting antibiotics that may contribute to quelling future infections.
  • They will support the growth of other important components, including mycorrhizae.
  • Some microbes will release various growth hormones that may stimulate additional plant growth or improve flower production.

Using your EM1 Garden

EM1 Garden can be used as it is without any further preparation, although adding equal parts of molasses or raw sugar to the solution of EM Garden and water will enhance activity by providing a food source for the microbes.

  • For orchids and pot plants, dilute 2 ml EM1 Garden per 1 litre of water. Apply monthly as a pot drench.
  • Dilute EM1 Garden with water, from 1/100 to 1/1000 dilutions.
  • Soil and Plant Drench: Add 10ml EM1 to a 10 litre watering can, thoroughly wet soil and plants (apply to 10m2 of the garden).
  • Foliar application for maintaining plant health: dilute EM1 Garden at 1/100 with water,  spray weekly during important growth stages and during stress periods.
  • Apply EM1 Garden regularly to your compost for odour control and to enhance the compost activation.
